Level 6: Certificate in British Sign Language Studies
Level 6 Course – 2020/21
WhenThis year’s course will run on Wednesday evenings, between 6pm and 9pm, along with a few Saturday morning sessions and social events.
The course is expected to start on Wednesday 9th September 2020 (subject to confirmation).

Course ContentThe Level 6 course will expose students to a range of complex language and vocabulary. Using brand new course material, students will learn to maintain fluent and accurate BSL over extended periods as well as understanding colloquial and idiosyncratic BSL. Course LengthThis course runs for roughly one academic year. The course will consist of 120 face to face teaching hours, 3 hours per week, plus attendance at social events arranged with members of the local Deaf community and plenty of self-study during the year.
Course CostThe standard full course tuition fee is only £1299 plus an extra £230* in (optional) exam fees. DFBS also offers the option of paying in monthly instalments over 3, 4 or 6 months.
*Exam fees are set by iBSL; their 2020/21 fees have not been published yet, so may increase slightly.
Additional CostsLearners will be expected to purchase resources for their coursework file.
How to enrolPlease note, it is recommended that entrants should already have the Level 4 Certificate in BSL Studies before embarking on the Level 6 Certificate programme. Acceptance on the course is subject to a short, informal, face to face assessment; there is no charge for the assessment.
