Level 2: Certificate in British Sign Language Studies

Private Level 2 Sign Language Courses

Here at DFLtd we understand that asking staff to enrol on an accredited sign language course can be time consuming and public courses don’t always provide the language that is most needed by your staff and customers until years of training has been completed.

For example, your staff might not need to chat about holidays and travelling if they are working in a bank so we focus on language, culture and vocabulary that’s important for you, in your industry.

Here’s some the recent industries DFLtd has provided with tailored training packages:

  • County Councils
  • Hospitals
  • Front-line Ambulance Staff
  • Care Homes
  • Banks & Building Societies
  • Police Forces
  • Golf Clubs

Course Content

This qualification aims to further Learners’ experiences and development in communication through British Sign Language (BSL) with Deaf people on everyday topics involving social life and at work, school or college. A Level 2 course will enable development in functional BSL communication in more depth than at Level 1, requiring a wider grasp of grammar to cope with some non-routine language exchanges.

For more details of the standard course content, please check the specification.

Course Length

The standard Level 2 course runs for roughly one academic year. The course will consist of 90 taught hours, usually 3 hours per week, plus around 24 hours of self-study during the year.
